Eating crayfish in Changzhou (China)
This is a report from Sales Promotion Department:
We are now in Changzhou City in PRC (China).
We went to have some meetings with a local Japanese trading company as well as Chinese tool manufacturer, BIFO, to discuss about end-mill-related matters.
Then, afterwards, our usual practice; Chinese business entertainment dinner.
There always are about 10 people, some of whom I don’t know, show up at the dinner.
The main dish of the night was …’ Crayfish ‘ (OMG).
They say there’s been ‘Crayfish’ boom in the past few years.
So, there are many ‘Crayfish’ restaurants everywhere. ‘Crayfish’ are written as ‘ 小龍蝦 ‘, and means ‘small lobster’.
They look delicious at a glance, but …
I heard that they carry many paracites in the body. So, depending on how they are coocked, some people may get a stomach ache…
As a matter of fact, the president of the trading company, who invited us today, said he himself had the terrible experience.
Knowing how dangerous it could be, I ate 1 crayfish, thinking ” It’s not right to say ‘no’ as I am being entertained…”.
It tasted good when I ate one.
All the Chinese guests around me ate and ate and ate, and there was nothing left on the dish in no time.
However, sometimes people get sick 10 days after they had crayfish … so, I have to be careful about my stomach.
I hope I’ll be OK.
